Male Celebrities Checking Out Cheerleaders

Cheerleading is a physical activity, sometimes a competitive sport, based on organized routines, usually ranging from one to three minutes, which contain the components of tumbling, dance, jumps, cheers, and stunting to direct spectators of events to cheer on sports teams at games or to participate in competitions. The athlete involved is called a cheerleader.

Cheerleading originated in the United States, and remains a predominantly American activity, with an estimated 1.5 million participants in all-star cheerleading. The growing presentation of cheerleading as a sport to a global audience has been led by the 1997 start of broadcasts of cheerleading competition by ESPN International and the worldwide release of the 2000 film Bring it On. Due in part to this recent exposure, there are now an estimated 100,000 participants scattered around the rest of the world in countries including Australia, Canada, China, Colombia, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

Kim Kardashian vs Lindsay Lohan fashion

Let's hope the Secret Service beefs up security at the White House on Saturday — because Lindsay Lohan will be paying a visit. The actress, as well as reality star Kim Kardashian, will both be attending the White House Correspondents' Dinner and, stranger yet, they are the invited guests of conservative news channel Fox. (Yes, Lohan and Kardashian are going to the same place that Academy Award-winning actress Susan Sarandon says denied her approval for entrance.)

Lohan — who has had an interesting past few weeks filled with two alleged nightclub assaults and arriving three hours late to the "Glee" set on Wednesday — will be the guest of Greta Van Susteren. The TV host tells TMZ she's bringing the convicted felon-actress because "I love comebacks, and I'd like her to succeed." Van Susteren, who actually also brought Kardashian and her mother Kris Jenner as her guests in 2010, adds that she's rooting for the 25-year-old and her upcoming gig, "Liz & Dick," a Lifetime made-for-TV movie. "She's got a new movie and I'm hoping things work out for her." At the same table as Lohan and Van Susteren will be Kardashian, a friend of Lohan's and the guest of John Coale.

But don't count on Lohan actually making it to the Washington, D.C. event. In not-so-shocking news, she reportedly missed her 1 p.m. flight out of Los Angeles on Friday after yet another late night/early morning of partying at a Hollywood Hills mansion with Paris Hilton. According to TMZ, Lohan "couldn't pull it together" in time to make her afternoon flight, but plans to take a later one.

If she does make it on Saturday, don't get your hopes up for a Lohan-Kardashian photo op with Barack Obama. A source tells TMZ that the president almost never mingles with the famous guests. But the First Lady has said that their daughters Sasha and Malia are big "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" fans, so he may break that rule in order to win cool points with his girls. If he does, things could get just a little bit awkward considering that Obama has said — twice—that Kardashian's new boyfriend/publicity stunt Kanye West is a "jackass."

The White House Correspondents' Dinner will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and is expected to also draw the likes of George Clooney, Charlize Theron, Reese Witherspoon, Viola Davis, and Eva Longoria.

Selena Gomez vs Namesake Selena fashion

Selena Gomez has often spoken about her namesake, the late Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla-Perez, known simply as Selena. But on a new tribute album, Gomez actually gets to sing with her! The 19-year-old recorded a duet of Quintanilla-Perez's song "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom" for the Selena tribute album, Enamorada De Ti, released this month. "I was completely honored when they asked me to be on the tribute CD," Gomez told JustJared.com. "And when I went into the studio to record they actually had her vocals in the booth that she was in, so I felt like she was singing right next to me. It gave me chills! It was incredible and it was a great experience and it was a great song."

The original Selena's brother, A.B. Quintanilla, also approves of the way the track turned out. "She did an amazing job," he told E! Online. "We want to thank all the Selena Gomez fans ... they've been really, really at it just spreading the word. Hard core fans."

Back in 2009, when Texas native Gomez was just 17, she explained her connection to the songstress. "Texas as a state is very proud of Selena. My dad and family loved her. So when my mother got pregnant with me, he wanted to name me Selena, after her," Gomez said. "As I got older and could understand why I was named after her, I went to go visit her grave and where she used to perform." Since becoming a singer herself, Gomez has performed "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom."

Selena Quintanilla-Perez's story became well known when Jennifer Lopez played her in the 1997 movie "Selena," just two years after she was shot to death by the former president of her fan club. Selena, who recorded six albums, won the 1994 Grammy for the best Mexican-American album, and had already begun recording her first English-language album at the time of her death. People magazine wrote that, "For Latin music enthusiasts, the most apt comparison was with the death of John Lennon."
